Job Description

Skip Hire, one of the country’s leading refuse companies seeks the services of a highly skilled and competent person for the position above.

Key Responsibilities

• Responsible for operating a variety of water & waste management vehicles to collect and transport water, waste and recycling materials to disposal or storage facilities.
• Ability to safely operate mechanism for loading, compressing, and dumping refuse and recyclable materials.
• Assures that assigned truck is properly fuelled, equipped, lubricated, and serviced
• Washes interior and exterior of assigned truck and reports needed repairs immediately.
• Maintain safe and efficient operation of water & waste collection and transport equipment and vehicles.
• Perform pre-trip/ post-trip vehicle inspections and complete daily work sheet for equipment operated.
• Complete daily work orders efficiently & record information accordingly, and keep work location in order.
• Knowledge of – traffic laws involved in equipment operations; safe operations of and safety precautions necessary in operation of equipment, including various types of water & waste collection trucks.
• Ability to – communicate effectively orally and in writing; understand and carry out written and oral instructions.
• Establish and maintain effective working relationships with supervisors, fellow employees, and the public.

Qualifications & Experience

• Minimum of 5 years Extra heavy-duty driving experience with a reputable company
• Class EC driver’s license
• PRDP – Goods & Hazardous
• Outstanding driving and mechanics skills.
• Sound knowledge of waste management is an advantage
• Diligent with great attention to detail
• Interpersonal skills
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent organizational and communication skills.
