Job Description
The successful candidate will lead a multidisciplinary organisation operating in the energy, engineering and project-delivery environment, with particular relevance to renewable energy, solar photovoltaic (PV) solutions and EPC-type projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute the approved corporate strategy, annual business plan and enterprise priorities, with clear milestones, ownership and performance measures.
- Serve as the principal link between the Board and management, providing timely, accurate and decision-ready reporting on performance, opportunities and material risks.
- Embed effective governance, delegated authority, policy compliance, ethical conduct and disciplined executive decision-making across the organisation.
- Assume full accountability for revenue, profitability, cash flow, working capital, budgets and the sustainable financial health of the organisation.
- Lead forecasting, resource allocation, cost optimisation and investment decisions using reliable financial and operational data.
- Strengthen commercial discipline across pricing, tendering, contracting, procurement and project margin management.
- Provide executive oversight of operations and project portfolios to ensure safe, timely, compliant and commercially successful delivery.
- Establish operating rhythms, controls and performance dashboards that improve productivity, quality, customer outcomes and accountability.
- Ensure appropriate capacity planning, supply-chain resilience, asset utilisation and continuous improvement across functions.
- Lead market expansion, strategic partnerships, key-account development and the conversion of high-value opportunities into profitable, bankable business.
- Maintain executive relationships with clients, regulators, financiers, suppliers, contractors and other critical stakeholders.
- Monitor industry, competitor, policy and technology developments and position the organisation to respond decisively to emerging opportunities and threats.
- Build a high-performing executive and management team, clarify accountabilities and cultivate a culture of integrity, inclusion, delivery and continuous learning.
- Lead workforce planning, succession, talent development and performance management to ensure the organisation has the capability required for growth.
- Communicate direction clearly, align teams behind shared priorities and address performance or conduct matters promptly and fairly.
- Own the enterprise risk framework and ensure effective management of legal, regulatory, contractual, financial, operational, cyber, environmental and reputational risks.
- Champion health, safety, environmental and quality standards, ensuring that compliance is embedded in planning and execution.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Commerce, Engineering, Finance, Economics or a closely related discipline; a relevant postgraduate qualification, MBA or master’s degree is strongly preferred.
- At least 10-15 years of progressively responsible leadership experience, including a minimum of five years in a senior executive, general management or equivalent enterprise leadership role.
- Demonstrated accountability for profit and loss, budgeting, cash flow, strategic planning and the delivery of sustained commercial results.
- Proven success leading multidisciplinary teams and complex operations, preferably within energy, engineering, infrastructure, construction, utilities or a related project-based environment.
- Strong knowledge of renewable-energy markets, solar PV solutions, EPC projects or technical solution delivery is highly desirable.
- Substantial experience in Board reporting, corporate governance, risk management, regulatory compliance and policy implementation.
- A strong record of leading business development, major tenders, contract negotiations, strategic partnerships and key client relationships.
- Demonstrated experience managing organisational change, building leadership capability and improving operational performance.
- High digital and financial literacy, including the use of management information, analytics and enterprise systems to guide decisions.
- Valid driver’s licence and willingness to travel to operational and project sites as required.
