Key Responsibilities

• Provide strategic and operational leadership for teaching and learning activities – driving effective, evidence based teaching practice across all schools
• Co-ordinate the planning, implementation and continuous improvement of teaching and learning programmes
• Ensure effective implementation of approved curricula, with a strong focus on outcome-based learning and the measurable achievement of intended learning outcomes
• Facilitate curriculum mapping against institutional and regulatory requirements
• Promote the integration and linking of theory and practice across all programmes, ensuring learners can apply classroom knowledge in real-world and clinical settings
• Manage and co-ordinate clinical placements, including liaison with placement sites, monitoring of learner performance and ensuring placements meet academic and regulatory requirements
• Ensure teaching and learning activities are aligned with the College’s strategic objectives and academic standards
• Train and educate undergraduate students using and developing new and appropriate teaching methods and promote learner-centred, innovative and technology based teaching practices
• Monitor lecturer teaching effectiveness and compliance with academic requirements
• Carry out any other duties and responsibilities as may be assigned by the Head of Department.

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS)
• Post Graduate Qualification in specialist programme/area will be an added advantage
• PhD will be an added advantage
• Atleast three (3) years relevant experience post qualification
