Job Description

Crystal Clear Luxury Ice (Pty) Ltd is seeking a skilled Refrigeration Technician to ensure the flawless operation of our premium ice production facility. In this role, you will be responsible for the installation, routine maintenance, diagnostic troubleshooting, and rapid repair of our commercial ice makers, industrial refrigeration plants, and cold storage units. Because our brand promise relies entirely on supplying flawless, high-quality luxury ice to premium clients, your technical expertise will be vital to minimizing production downtime and maintaining strict temperature and quality controls.

Key Responsibilities

• Preventative Maintenance: Execute routine servicing, cleaning, and performance checks on commercial ice-making machines, compressors, condensers, and evaporators.
• Fault Diagnosis: Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and structural faults in specialized high-capacity ice production equipment and cold rooms.
• Emergency Repairs: Respond swiftly to equipment breakdowns to minimize production downtime and protect product inventory.
• System Testing: Monitor system pressures, refrigerant levels, temperatures, and electrical circuits to ensure optimal operating efficiency.
• Refrigerant Management: Safely handle, recover, and charge refrigerants in strict compliance with safety regulations and environmental standards.
• Quality & Safety Control: Keep detailed technical logs of all repairs, parts replacements, and preventative maintenance schedules while maintaining a pristine, food-safe workshop environment.
• Inventory Management: Track and recommend stock levels for essential spare parts, tools, and refrigeration consumables.

Qualifications & Experience

• Education & Trade: NCC or Trade B in Refrigeration & Air conditioning or HVAC
• Diploma in Refrigeration & air conditioning/Mechanical Engineering will be an added will be an added advantage
• Industry Experience: Minimum 2+ years of hands-on experience maintaining commercial/industrial heavy-duty refrigeration systems.
• Physical Fitness: Ability to work in varying temperature environments (including sub-zero cold storage facilities) and lift heavy components.
• Core Competencies: Exceptional problem-solving skills, strong attention to mechanical detail, and a proactive attitude toward equipment reliability.
• Availability: Willingness to work flexible hours or be on-call for urgent, after-hours facility breakdowns.
